Parents and guardians of children who will start school for the first time in September 2026 have until 11.59pm on Thursday (15 January, 2026) to complete their application for reception class places at infant and primary schools in Wolverhampton.

To apply, please log on to School admissions and complete the short application process as soon as possible.

Latest figures show that around three quarters of parents have completed their applications, with the rest encouraged to do so now.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “Parents or guardians of children who are due to start infant or primary school in September should complete their application forms now, if they haven’t already done so.

“This is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child’s future. The application process is straightforward and will only take a few minutes to complete.

“It’s important to remember that, if your child is already in nursery provision at an infant or primary school, you will still need to apply for a reception class place for them.

“Please also get your applications in by Thursday’s deadline, as applying after this time could have a detrimental effect on your chance of securing a place at one of your preferred schools.”

Applying online has a number of benefits. Applications are made through a secure website and can be viewed and edited online up to the closing date for applications. Applicants can also find out about their child’s school place allocation online when it is announced in April, rather than having to wait for the post.
