Essential maintenance work planned at WV Active Central

The City of Wolverhampton Council is to carry out essential maintenance work at WV Active Central next month.

It will see repairs to fixtures and fittings in the changing rooms, the replacement of seating and maintenance of heating and drainage equipment, and will be carried out from Monday 10 November to Wednesday 12 November.

To enable the work to be completed safely and efficiently, the swimming pool and the male and female changing rooms will be closed all day on Monday 10 November. Gym and group exercise classes will operate as normal and toilets will be available.

The female changing room and swimming pool will re-open on Tuesday 11 November, though the male changing room will remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday 11 and 12 November for continued maintenance. Male swimmers are welcome to use the pool on these days, but are advised they will need to arrive and leave in swimwear under their clothing, as was the case during the Covid-19 restrictions.

In addition, there will be no swimming lessons from 10-12 November.

Members are reminded that they are welcome to use alternative facilities at WV Active Aldersley or WV Active Bilston – Bert Williams while this work takes place. Please note, during the PDC Grand Slam of Darts, Aldersley’s gym opening hours will be 6.30am to 3pm from 10-12 November.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “WV Active Central is highly valued by WV Active members, and this essential maintenance work is key to ensuring it continues to support people’s health, fitness, and wellbeing for years to come.

“As part of their membership, customers are welcome to use any of our three WV Active centres, and so we hope the improvements taking place next week cause minimal disruption, as we invest in the future of this valued site.”
