Launching during National Care Leavers Month in November, its new pilot programme, Keys to Success, is designed to give care leavers aged 17 to 25 in Wolverhampton the skills, confidence and independence that come with learning to drive.

And as part of this, they are appealing for help and support from driving instructors who can provide driving lessons, free taster sessions, discounted rates or flexible packages, and a commitment to safe, approved, and high quality tuition.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “Our Reach Leaving Care team supports young people in care to help them make the move into independent living, and to take advantage of the education, employment, training and social opportunities that are available to them.

“Being able to drive is a vital step towards being able to access these, and we’re looking for local driving instructors to help make this happen.

“This is a chance to make a real difference in a young person’s life and be part of a citywide initiative that promotes independence and opportunity, so if you can help, please get in touch.”
