Still time to get free winter flu and other vaccinations

There is still time to attend a walk in clinic and get free flu and other vaccinations over the next few weeks.

The clinics, which have been running throughout the Autumn and Winter, offer free adult flu vaccinations to all eligible groups, including pregnant women, those aged 65 years and over, those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups, carers, frontline health and social care workers, and close contacts of immunocompromised individuals.

Meanwhile, for children aged 2 and 3, both the nasal spray and the injectable (gelatine free) vaccines will be available.

In addition, the clinics will also be offering the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine for anyone who has missed a dose, the RSV vaccine for older adults and pregnant women, and the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine for pregnant women.

No appointment is required and the clinics will be taking place at:

  • New Cross Hospital, Wednesfield, Wednesday 14 January, 10am to 3pm
  • Queen Square, Wolverhampton, Thursday 15 January, 10am to 3pm
  • New Cross Hospital, Wednesfield, Saturday 17 January, 12pm to 4pm
  • Queen Square, Wolverhampton, Monday 19 January, 10am to 3pm

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “By getting vaccinated, you’ll be helping protect yourself and those around you this winter.”

As well as the walk in clinics, pre-booked appointments are also available through GPs and some local pharmacies.
