Free Park Yoga sessions return to city

Free outdoor yoga sessions are underway once more at a popular Wolverhampton park.

The national charity Park Yoga is holding weekly sessions at East Park with the support of the City of Wolverhampton Council and Active Black Country.

Sessions take place every Sunday until 13 September, between 9.30am to 10.30am. They are open to all ages and abilities and there’s no need to book in advance – all people need to do is bring a yoga mat if they have one or, failing that, a towel.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “Yoga is great for enhancing your mood, reducing stress levels and improving your muscle strength and flexibility.

“We hope these sessions will encourage people to take the time to look after their own wellbeing through being active and enjoying the benefits of being outdoors, and I’d encourage everyone to join in the fun.”

Park Yoga Instructor Deb Sahota said: “Sessions are beginner friendly and our participants don’t have to do all the movements – quite often we’ll have yogis who lie or sit in nature for the hour! Whatever your ability, we’d love as many people as possible from your community group to join us.”
