The annual event is set to take place in West Park on Saturday 6 June and will feature a fantastic line up of live performances, entertainment and activities for all the family.
Thanks to strong levels of sponsorship and a commitment to making Pride accessible to as many people as possible, organisers have agreed to make it free of charge.
Councillor Stephen Simkins, Leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “Pride will now be accessible to as many people as possible at a time when the cost of living continues to place pressure on household budgets.”
He added: “Pride is one of those days when Wolverhampton really shows itself at its best – inclusive, open, and proud of the different communities that call the city home. We know that times are still tough for many families, and it matters to us that nobody is priced out of being part of something this special.
“Thanks to the level of funding generated from our sponsors, we are proud to make this year’s Pride free for everyone. Wolverhampton is a city where everyone belongs, and we want Pride to feel exactly like that. All of our sponsors and our cooperative members were in full support of our plans and are excited that it is now free for everyone to attend.”
Sponsors for the event are:
- Wolverhampton Grand Theatre
- Wolverhampton Homes
- University of Wolverhampton
- Enjoy Wolverhampton BID
- Bevan Brittan
- WV Living
The event will feature a main stage in West Park with a range of acts including:
- The Ultimate Boyband Party Show
- Vicky Jackson as P!nk
- Bollyqueer
- Rainbow Voices
- The Cleopatra Way
- Samira Hills
- The Greatest Musicals Disco featuring Rii Rii LePour
There will also be a wide range of free family activities including face painting, funfair rides and a selection of food and drink.
Celebrations on the day will begin with a parade through the city centre at 1pm, departing from Victoria Street.
The parade will then make its way to West Park, where a full programme of live performances and entertainment will take place from 2pm to 8pm.
To support access to the venue, a free shuttle bus will operate between the city centre and West Park from 2pm to 9.15pm on the day. Details of this will be shared nearer to the event.
Anyone who wants to take part in the parade has until 22 May to register.
