Organised by the International Fathers’ Mental Health Day (IFMHD) charity, the campaign takes place annually on the Monday following Father’s Day in the UK.
This year’s theme is ‘Strong Foundations: Dads Matter from Day One’ and emphasises the vital role fathers play in family life from the earliest stages.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “Becoming a father is a huge milestone and while it can bring so much joy, it can also come with uncertainty and pressure. It’s completely normal for new and expectant dads to experience a wide range of emotions.
“Looking after dads’ mental health helps the whole family; if you’re a dad and feeling overwhelmed or struggling, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. There’s a wide range of support available across Wolverhampton, and I’d encourage dads to use these local services and take that first step to get help whenever needed.”
