Councillor Stephen Simkins, Leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “I can confirm that after careful consideration, Anchor Lane will continue to be a waste and recycling site for use by Wolverhampton residents only.
“Our priority is to always provide the best possible services for the residents of Wolverhampton. If we were to give access to people living outside of the city, it would reduce capacity and negatively impact our own residents who are the ones who fund and rely on it.
“We value working closely with neighbouring authorities however any agreement needed to demonstrate clear and balanced benefits for both councils which unfortunately has not been possible. My door is always open to talk with neighbouring councils about any issues however we must always put our residents first.”
